September 1st is Disaster Preparedness Day, and the entire month of September is Disaster Preparedness Month.

Typhoon No. 15 at the beginning of this month, the heavy rain damage in Kyushu in August, and the earthquakes in the Tokara Islands from June to July are still fresh in our memories.

We encourage you to take this opportunity to review your emergency supplies, such as preserved foods and drinking water, and the state of your rolling stock.

Below are food items with a shelf life of over six months that can be stored at room temperature.

These include canned meat and soup, retort foods, as well as compact, small-amount types of salt (sea salt) and brown sugar (pure brown sugar). Salt and sugar can serve as seasonings in an emergency, and brown sugar and sea salt are excellent sources of various minerals. Brown sugar is also recommended as an easy-to-consume energy source and snack that can be taken anywhere, anytime.

Especially immediately after a disaster, it is said that people tend to consume a diet heavy in carbohydrates. Moreover, meals during a disaster are an important event that contributes to daily enjoyment and vitality. To maintain physical strength, prevent illness, and avoid poor health, please try to select foods that prioritize nutrients such as protein, vitamins, minerals, and dietary fiber, as well as variety.
