Collection: Islands special
Okinawa Prefecture is home to a staggering 691 islands (including those accessible by bridge from the main island).
Of these, 38 are inhabited. While well-known tourist destinations like Ishigaki Island and Miyako Island are prominent, every island possesses its own unique charm. Examples include Tarama Island, which boasts the highest brown sugar production in Japan, Kume Island, known for its thriving industry utilizing deep-sea water (deep ocean water with low contamination), and Hamahiga Island and Yagaji Island, popular for their salt products.
This month, we've gathered a selection of products with ties to these remote islands.
Please enjoy the unique charms of these islands, blessed with a warm climate and beautiful nature. Our selection includes rare natural mozuku seaweed from Ishigaki Island, brown sugar and sea salt produced on remote islands, and high-hardness mineral water made using deep-sea water from off the coast of Kume Island.
